Members’ Code of Conduct

The Jewish Legal Network is committed to maintaining a professional, welcoming and respectful community. All members are expected to uphold the following standards when participating in Network events, groups, communications and activities.

1. Professional and respectful conduct
Members should behave courteously and professionally towards fellow members, guests, speakers and others involved with the Network.

2. Respect for differing views
The Network encourages open discussion and a diversity of opinion. Members should engage constructively, even where views differ strongly, and avoid personal attacks or abusive exchanges.

3. Appropriate networking and personal boundaries
Members should approach networking, introductions, mentoring and social interaction appropriately, respecting other members’ time, privacy and personal boundaries.

4. Confidentiality and discretion
Members should respect confidential information and private conversations shared through the Network and should not disclose or attribute them without appropriate consent.

5. No discrimination, bullying or intimidation
Discriminatory, bullying, threatening, intimidating or deliberately hostile behaviour will not be accepted.

6. Zero tolerance for sexual harassment
The Network has zero tolerance for sexual harassment. This includes unwanted sexual comments, advances, touching, messages or other conduct of a sexual nature that causes discomfort, offence or intimidation.

7. Appropriate use of the Network
The Network should not be used for unsolicited mass marketing, persistent sales approaches, inappropriate recruitment activity or other forms of unwanted solicitation.

8. Responsible use of the Network’s name
Members must not claim to speak on behalf of the Network, use its name or branding without permission, or suggest that the Network endorses an individual, organisation, campaign or position unless authorised.

9. Uphold professional standards
Members are expected to act with integrity and in a manner consistent with the standards expected within the legal profession. Conduct connected with the Network should not bring the Network or its members into disrepute.

10. Reporting concerns and consequences
Members who experience or witness conduct that may breach this Code are encouraged to report their concerns confidentially to jewishlegalnetwork@gmail.com. Reports will be considered by the Committee, which may take appropriate and proportionate action, including issuing a warning, restricting participation in Network activities or terminating membership.

The Committee reserves the right to interpret and apply this Code fairly and proportionately in order to protect the integrity of the Network and its members.
