This Privacy Notice was created on 6 August 2026. We keep it under regular review and will place any updates on this webpage. We may also notify you in other ways from time to time about the processing of your personal information. The Jewish Legal Network is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information and is required by data protection law to provide you with this privacy notice.

The Jewish Legal Network is a membership network for people in and connected to the legal sector.

Information we collect
We will collect and process the following categories of personal information about you:
your name, contact details, professional details and other information provided in membership applications;
information about your membership, attendance at events and engagement with the Jewish Legal Network;
payment and transaction information relating to membership fees, event tickets or other payments;
information you provide when you contact us, contribute commentary or articles, apply for a role or position with us, or engage with us on social media;
photographs, video or other content from events, where applicable and where appropriate notice has been given;
technical information about how you use our website, including your IP address, browser, device information and analytics data; and
any other information you choose to provide to us.
Some information connected with membership of, or engagement with, the Jewish Legal Network may reveal or suggest information about your race, religious belief, ethnic origin or community affiliation. We treat this special category data carefully and only use it where we have a lawful basis to do so, as described further below

We may retain information for a longer period where we reasonably believe this is necessary for legal, regulatory, governance, accounting, safeguarding, security or dispute-related reasons. Where we retain information for these purposes, we will delete it when it is no longer necessary.

your right of access to your personal information, which means you can ask us for copies of your personal information;
your right to rectification, which means you can ask us to correct personal information you think is inaccurate or incomplete;
your right to erasure, which means you can ask us to delete your personal information in certain circumstances;
your right to restriction of processing, which means you can ask us to restrict how we use your personal information in certain circumstances;
your right to object to processing of your personal information, which means you can object to our use of your personal information in certain circumstances including where we are relying on a legitimate interest (or those of a third party) or where we are processing your personal information for direct marketing purposes;
your right to data portability, which means you can ask us to transfer certain information to you or another organisation in certain circumstances; and
your right to withdraw consent, where we rely on consent.
your right not to be subject to automated decision-making, which means you can object to decisions being made about you based solely on automated processing, including profiling, that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.
You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request is manifestly unfounded or excessive. Alternatively, we may refuse to comply with the request. If your request is reasonable, we will respond within one (1) calendar month. In some cases, where particular complex , we may extend this period by up to two further months, but we will notify you if this is necessary.

Data retention
We will only retain your personal information in accordance with applicable data protection laws, regulatory requirements or for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which we collected it.
How to complain

Acknowledge receipt no later than 30 days from receiving it.
Take appropriate steps to respond without undue delay, which may include making enquiries into the subject matter of the complaint and, where appropriate, keeping you informed about the progress of our handling of the complaint.
Inform you of the outcome without undue delay.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (“ICO”) if you are unhappy with how we have used your data. You do not need to raise your complaint with us first, although we would appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns before you approach the ICO.
